Since a large group of us will are going on the Carolina Tiger Rescue tour in Pittsboro, I figured I would post a picnic and hike in the same area to correspond with when the tour ends. We will start off the afternoon with a picnic, so please bring food to eat and drink for yourself (this will not be a potluck - each person is responsible for their own food). There are two picnic shelters. After eating, we will do a nice 3 mile hike at Vista Point, which offers a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere, beautiful views of Jordan Lake, a densely wooded landscape, and level terrain. NOTE: There is a $5.00 park entry fee per car starting in April. I will posting directions to a meeting place soon, so we can carpool and divide up the cost to enter the park. Please bring a couple bucks cash for the park fee. If you would like to go ahead and drive yourself, see directions below. The Red Trail is an easy three-mile hike. Hikers can enjoy lovely views of the water, since much of the trail skirts Jordan Lake.
