Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteers 001)

This position manages the day-to-day operations of the local volunteer department. Under the direction of the Volunteer Services Supervisor-CSA, leads the planning, development, integration, & maintenance of the volunteer programs in accordance w/ the stated mission & goals of the service area. Essential Functions: • Responds to department requests for volunteer assistance by developing a specific plan, establishing schedules, & creating an orientation for the specific role • Implements all programs established by Supervisor • Supervises 150-300 volunteers • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, & evaluations of volunteers • Negotiates new volunteer roles in the service area w/ KFH/P & TPMG leaders, managers, & supervisors • Ensures the activities do not fall under union jurisdiction • Maintains the interrogate of the fiscal procedures or the revenue centers (e.g., gift shop), including deposits & daily/monthly activity reports

The Orange County Zoo (OC Zoo) is looking for Volunteer Docents on site. Docents lead guided tours to school groups and scout groups; staff the "Discovery Carts"; assist toddler programs, do story time and help with special events. Docents handle small animals including reptiles and small mammals. Training is provided. Hours are flexible; Weekdays from 9:30am-12:00pm; weekend from 10:00am-3:30pm . OC Zoo Barnyard Volunteers (General Volunteer Opportunity)

The OC Zoo inside Irvine Regional Park in Orange is looking for volunteers to help staff our animal contact area in our barnyard on weekends between the hours of 11:00am-3:30pm. Our contact area exhibits African pygmy goats and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Zoo visitors have the chance to come in the contact area and pet the goats. The contact area can only be open when we have staff or volunteers available to staff it, so we are looking for volunteers interested in doing this. Volunteers must be 18 years old and will be required to stand for a period of time, answer visitor questions, and keep the contact area clean. The Capitol Visitor Center desires its volunteers to have certain skills that will assist the Capitol Visitor Center to enhance the visitor experience. Some of these skills include excellent customer service, outstanding communication skills, and the willingness and abilityto learn new information. It is also very important that the individual be a team member and take direction. The days and hours of these shifts are from 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Saturday, with some later hours for Special Events Volunteers. Single Volunteers is working with Interfaith Hospitality Network who helps the homeless get off the streets and this is their "bridge" apartment meant to offer interim housing to families. Volunteers will do light cleaning , getting the apartment ready for the next family. Cleaning supplies and snacks will be provided, all we need is your cleaning expertise and a little bit of elbow grease for a few hours.

Gulfside Regional Hospice Opportunities Include Patient and Family Support Provides support to patients in homes, nursing homes or Assisted Living Facilities. Support includes companionship, respite for caregivers or assisting with small tasks. Gift of Presence - A group of volunteers who comfort patients at the time of death and bring support and reassurance to their families these volunteers receive additional training to prepare them for their role. Telephone Assurance Program TAP - Staffed by specially trained volunteers, TAP provides a link between individuals and the Hospice program. Telephone volunteers give grieving survivors the assurance of an understanding ear, keeping them informed of Hospice services and providing additional support during the grieving process. Pet Therapy Volunteers - The goal of Gulfside Regional Hospice is to ease the pain and suffering of hospice patients and therapy dogs can have a postive effect on those lives.

Post/Pre Walk MS Volunteers Needed

We need up to 15 volunteers to help us at the our storage unit at Frazee in San Diego off of Mira Mar Rd. Volunteers will help us organize supplies from the first Walk MS on April 10, 2010 and get us ready for the next two Walks. Just For Us Level 1 Training Session - Therapeutic Riding Volunteers

Private Level 1 Training Session offered for our fantastic Meetup Group Wednesday March 17th, 6pm. This date is intended to replace the cancelled Meetup from Wednesday March 10th, all Meetup members and their friends are welcome to attend. RSVP on the Meetup page is required so that I can coordinate with Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. You only need to attend 1 session of Level 1 Training & 1 session of Level 2 Training to join Little Bit as a Volunteer in their Therapeutic Riding program. Little Bit Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Woodinville, WA, offers several different programs of hippotherapy and adaptive horseback riding to disabled children and adults. The center is NARHA Premier Accredited, is open 6 days a week and has ample opportunities for volunteers. To volunteer with them, no previous experience with horses or the disabled is required, just interest in helping out. Of course, those with experience are warmly welcomed!

Hospice Volunteers Needed

Compassionate Care Hospice is currently seeking volunteers! We are seeking volunteers to offer companionship and support to terminally ill patients. The volunteer’s role is to be a supportive, caring person to our patients and their families in many areas of need. The volunteers schedule is flexible; most of our volunteers are working professionals and volunteer in the daytime, evening or on weekends as their schedule permits. All volunteers are placed with patients and facilities as close to their home or work as possible. Some ways that our volunteers help includes visiting patients to ease social isolation, calling caregivers and families to offer emotional support, reading, listening to music, playing an instrument, knitting, and even helping patients write life histories. For individuals who are not interested in direct contact with patients but would still enjoy helping hospice patients we are seeking office volunteers to assist with light office duties.
